In the dining room of Rules Restaurant in Covent Garden. Established by Thomas Rule in 1798, it is the oldest restaurant in London. Mélanie and Charles would dine in a private room here, perhaps with friends such as Simon and David and Isobel and Oliver Lydgate, after an evening at the theatre. The food is still delicious today!
